The Bowser-Morner Construction Materials Testing Laboratory receives dimension stone and masonry samples from around the word. Manufacturers and suppliers trust our NCMA-certified technicians to reliably determine the strength and durability of their materials.
The stone and masonry experts at Bowser-Morner conduct all manner of strength and durability testing on concrete masonry units (CMU), concrete retaining wall units, concrete paving units, clay masonry and brick, architectural cast stone, and natural dimension stone. Masonry grout, mortar, and adhered masonry systems are tested as well.
Typical tests include:
- Strength
- Absorption
- Shrinkage
- Fire rating
- Bond strength
- Freeze-thaw durability
- Prism Strength
- Efflorescence
- Mortar design
Proprietary testing procedures for identifying admixtures.
Working closely with our Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, the Bowser-Morner stone and masonry experts developed unique proprietary test procedures to determine the presence and percentage of certain admixtures contained within manufactured stone and masonry units. The testing helps verify that specified components, such as integral waterproofing admixtures and efflorescence reducing admixtures, are in fact used in the manufacture of stone and masonry.
